Controlling flow separation over a curved ramp using vortex generator microjets

چکیده

Introducing a fluid microjet into the boundary layer to increase momentum and hence delay separation is method for actively controlling flow region. The present work numerically analyzed control of bubble behind ramp. For this purpose, we first verified steady-state numerical results (without jet) over ramp against reliable experimental studies from literature. Next, effects introducing were also verified. A jet was then placed at three different distances above study its impact on various parameters, including velocities, Reynolds stresses, pressure, vorticity, streamlines, size. As moved further back, jet-induced upwash region grew considerably. Finally, using identical jets studied compared those single jet. indicated that three-jet array shrank bubble. Using an with d/ D = 15 (distance between microjets diameter) can limit laterally about 2.75 times smaller than in z-direction. Also, employment managed decrease length zone x-direction up 78%, case L x / 1 0.0143 (longitudinal distance length) 10.

Flow characteristics over a tractor-trailer model with and without vane-type vortex generator installed

An experimental study has been conducted to investigate the effects of vane-type vortex generators in affecting the flow pattern of the wake region using a 1:20 scale tractor-trailer model. The de Haviland wind tunnel of the University of Glasgow was employed in this study. Surface oil flow visualisation, smoke visualisation and twocomponent time-averaged particle image velocimetry measurements...

Control of Nozzle Flow Using Microjets at Supersonic Mach Regime

This article reports the active control of base flows using the experimental procedure. Active control of base pressure helps in reducing the base drag in aerodynamic devices having suddenly expanded flows. Active control in the form of microjets having 0.5 mm radius placed at forty-five degrees apart is employed to control the base pressure. The Mach numbers of the present analysis are 1.7, 2....
